This is a blog about painting: specifically, representational fine art, generally, using oil paint. I think a lot about what I'm doing, and those thoughts about subject matter, technique, influences, frustrations and delights all show up here. It's all about the journey.

A Fresh Start
So, with the show in the bag (or, almost) I can start thinking about finishing old work and starting new work.
Here's a shot of the back wall of the studio, with some pieces that I had to stop working on in preparation for the show, and a couple of new blank panels. That's Evening Star Café on the easel, gridded up and the beginnings of some charcoal pencil to define the left side of the building. I really can't wait to get to those floaty clouds on Narmada Winery, in the background. I think I'll try a touch of Lemon Yellow Pale in the lighter areas. And the recent custom order from Ampersand included some more panels for the street scenes.
