This is a blog about painting: specifically, representational fine art, generally, using oil paint. I think a lot about what I'm doing, and those thoughts about subject matter, technique, influences, frustrations and delights all show up here. It's all about the journey.
I did get back to the left side. This is going to be completed soon!
I might get back to this again later today, but for now, here's the work I did on the middle ground water, right side.

I think this is done. I worked several different areas, most of them very small, and I can't see anything else that needs work. I'll put it aside for a few days and check again.
I like this little interior. There are things suggested in the dark corners, and the blue light on the right side is different and interesting.
I started putting some detail into the foreground, and I think it gives more of a sense of place. Letting it dry now, and giving my back a rest. Plenty to do on the computer to prepare for the upcoming show.

A couple of the desserts are just a step or two away from being finished. I worked on two of them today:

I also started a new vellum painting, an interior at a museum, and heightened the contrast on the skirt folds of the woman's dress in Light And Shadow.
By my usual accounts, I've done everything I needed to on this painting. I don't want to overwork it. But is it finished?

I'm not sure it holds together. It looks better in person, of course.
More facial work, plus some of the china cups and saucers.
The vellums are my go-to pieces when I really don't feel like painting. I think I should start another one.

Decided to concentrate on one painting today, though I might get back to the easel after a break. Most of the work was on the distant buildings, the girl's face, and a few of the pedestrians (mostly on the right side).
I put in some time on the plate and the marble tabletop. The shape of the plate continues to bother me.

Time for a break. I am putting the brushes down.
I am actually pretty excited about this one. And it's nearly finished, too; mostly it needs a few highlights on the plate's rim and on the scattered chocolate "marbles."
If I play my cards right, that is, if I keep to the same sort of painting schedule that I'm working now, I can have between 25-30 pieces done by the end of the year. But I have to stick with it!
Today I got a late start but did some significant work on the two below:
