The Beginning Of The End Of The Vineyards

Outside forces required me to spend the bulk of the day running around, but I did get to add a trip to the art supply store to my agenda. That is always a happy experience.

Meanwhile, sketched this in this morning:

Last One For Today

Worked on the fork and spoon, ice cream and raspberries.

All The Changes In The Fork

The fork, believe it or not, has many different shades of grey and white and even a sort of pink; today I worked on its contours and all the changes in its shape.

A Bit Too Pink

The model is wearing a lovely coral colored sweater, and it reflects back up on her face, so I thought I might as well paint it in the way it is. But in retrospect, I think it dominates the painting. I'm going to be using some muted greens for the ivy growing in the space behind her, so now it makes more sense to try to mix a deeper brick color that will also play off as a complement to the greens.

Even More Pastel Work

At least this one is relatively easy to work on. I tried blending some of the colors using my fingers today; the stumps and tortillons are, in my opinion, useless.

Floundering

I can't seem to get in gear, but have been pushing myself to work anyway. I just hope I'm making good decisions instead of just throwing paint at the canvases.

I did add some color and texture to the sheep painting.

And also to the bouquet painting:

The J6 Hearings

I've been working on this painting this afternoon while listening to the extraordinary testimony of Cassidy Hutchinson. Somehow I've been able to focus on the window area at center.

The Lake Pastel

I put in some more time on this one today, mostly darkening the tree line and some of the cloudy areas in the sky and water. Time for a break.

An Improvement On The Face

Recently I had the opportunity to meet with the friend whose image I'm using for this painting, and take some more detailed photos of her. This morning I prepared a skin color palette and went to work; while it still needs a lot of tweaking (you can be off by a millimeter on a facial feature and completely lose the likeness) it's a great improvement.
