Numbers 2 and 3

Every day I try to reach my goal of working on three pieces. Today I was able to push myself into doing that, so now I can relax— not that that's going to be easy, considering the news headlines of 19 children gunned down with a weapon of war. I feel like i need to get involved in the issue of gun safety.

But meanwhile:

Getting Back To Work

I've had a few days off after a truly wonderful studio visit by two long time patrons and their kids; now it's time to get back to the easel. Those bread loaves aren't going to paint themselves! Concentrated mostly on the bread station and the glasses on the table again today.

Now moving on to 3:51.

Spinning My Wheels

Domestic duties are at the forefront this week, and I'm having trouble concentrating on painting as a result. The work I did on Profiteroles yesterday was so bad that I can't even post a picture of it. I worked on the little window on the right side this morning, and now it's time to get back to the cleaning.

I Think This Is Done

There isn't much more I can do to this painting. I worry that the circular cloud left of center is confusing to the viewer, but I've painted it pretty close to the way it looks in the reference photo. I'll put it aside for a few days to see if it needs any adjustment; otherwise, it is DONE.

Back To It

Had a holiday of sorts; sometimes you just need a break in the schedule and a bit of fresh air to recharge the batteries.

Today: work on the fork and spoon, plus a little sprinkling of chocolate dust and vanilla beans. Also modified the edges of the Creme Anglaise.

But earlier, I sketched in the first umbrella and table/chair set on:

I'm going to have to enlarge the umbrella— it's too small.

More Details

Today I worked on the bread station, for the most part—

Shaping Up

I have a pulled muscle in my calf, making my life miserable; at least it doesn't stop me from painting. I'm pleased with the way this one is shaping up. I love the deep recesses and the blue/ochre section in the middle.
