Despite the deeply depressed state I've been in for the last two weeks, the painting is going very well. I'm quite happy with everything i've been working on. Here's this morning's work:

Now that the rose is shaping up--- though next time I'll add some highlights, glaze some deeper color and some blues and violets onto the petals--- I'm looking forward to that white background. It will be interesting to see what color combination works to make the right off-white and shadow color.
