It's been a bad, bad week. This is one of the few things I made any progress on.

This is a blog about painting: specifically, representational fine art, generally, using oil paint. I think a lot about what I'm doing, and those thoughts about subject matter, technique, influences, frustrations and delights all show up here. It's all about the journey.

It's probably been 15 years since I worked on this. I'm just bored with The Big Six and tired of trying to get things done for shows that don't look like they're going to materialize. The hands need to be worked on.

I just really want to finish this one soon, so I've been concentrating on it. It's hard to see where I've made changes, but mostly I'm painting out the blank areas.

I did get a little work done on several paintings. I hope next week will be more productive.

The 3-day weekends and holidays really mess me up as far as painting is concerned. After a lifetime of being in the habit of the five day workweek and two day weekend, I'm so used to running errands and doing housework on weekends and painting the rest of the week. So when the wild card holidays come around, my little brain thinks I'm not supposed to be painting. I end up scrubbing the porch or visiting garden centers instead.
Today is Wednesday, I think; I've gotten back to the easel but it's been a struggle to get my head back into thinking about color and form.
