A Mixed Kind of Day

 Sometimes the painting goes easily, and otheer times it's a disaster. Here's onethat went relatively well:

Elbo Room is a real mess right now; I decided to warm up the red building with some Sennelier Red, which I hardly ever use. Not only was it too too much for the naked eye, it didn't cover up a rogue black spot on the building. I ended up using sandpaper (you can see the lighter spot in the picture) and finally had to wipe off most of what I'd done. It was disappointing.

Moving on;

The floral wasn't bad to work on, it just took a long time to try to get the color and tone right on the table.

Next, I tried to work in the style of John Singer Sargent.

But with limited success. 

Then I created a palette for skin tones, but my attempt at getting a likeness of Lenny C. was a failure. I will eventually get it right, Lenny.
