Annuals

 It's been a long time since I worked on this one; after staring at it for a few days I realized it's quite a decent painting. So I picked it up again, added more color to some of the plants, and made the garden hose more visible.

 Though I think the green needs to be toned down some more, I'm happy with the way this is developing.

 On the above, I worked very hard on the structure of the rocks. I think it's better. In a couple of days I'll look at it with fresh eyes and see if it needs more tweaking.

Much work needs to be done on the face. And the shirt has a dark pattern; I'll have to simplify it for this small size. The grey color is the background for the pattern.

A re-do. I never liked the original. This has much more personality. And I love the glasses.
 

Can't Quite Figure Out The Rocks

The rock formation in the right hand quarter of the painting has got me flummoxed. I can't quite figure out where the planes are; where they break, how the light defines the shapes. I did some work on the distant foliage today, and still need to brush in the junipers in the foreground right corner.

Filling In

 I'm trying to fill in those interior white areas, and did a lot of careful blending on the green parts. But the photo makes it look like a sloppy mess! What can I tell you– it'll be amazing when it's done.
