Timid, And Yet Fussy

Sometimes I'm just too intimidated by the image I'm working with, so I paint very carefully. Here, I made the lily pads too small— but one of the benefits of technology in painting is that you can place the reference photo side by side with a photo of your current work, and compare the two. In this case, I could easily see that the lily pads need to be larger and more numerous. 

I also used a flat brush to loosen up the fussiness of the background foliage.
