Sara Driving Across The Desert, © 2020, work in progress (click on image for larger view)
This is a blog about painting: specifically, representational fine art, generally, using oil paint. I think a lot about what I'm doing, and those thoughts about subject matter, technique, influences, frustrations and delights all show up here. It's all about the journey.

Sara
The way the light falls on Sara as she drives creates the most beautiful colors: pale cerulean, shadowy umber, rosy pink and ochre. Some of it is from the light coming through the window; then there's an orange glow on the jawline that seems to be reflected light from whatever she's wearing. I'm trying to do it justice and also get the drawing right; am having trouble with the nose and lower lip.
